daffodils and tree

Every January one spot of daffodils starts poking up through the ground. I think it is the spot that gets the most winter sun. So being January I swooshed away a few leaves for a look see and there they were. About 1/2 inch up, little green tips reaching for the warmth of the sun. The problem is it is 63 degrees today and I am fearing the trees and bulbs will have a false sense of spring.

Sierra Wave

Here in North West Nevada we get "Sierra Wave Clouds". They are mostly unique and common to this area and are usually flying saucer shaped. But late this afternoon this unusually shaped one was in the sky. I shot it just before sunset from my back yard. I think it looks like a running rabbit. What do you think it looks like?

Happy New Year

Last summer as I watched my yard grow and change I decided to track a year in the life of my Nevada yard. But it was summer and I wanted to start at the beginning of a year. So I waited. Finally, it is January 1st and now I can start. Today was a very nice winter day. There is snow on the ground that hasn't melted from the Christmas (2008) snow storm. Clouds in the sky made for a really great sunset viewed from my back yard. BLS
